In recent years, more and more emphasis is placed on low energy consumption of electronic circuits. Sensor technologies with a power consumption of less than 200nA at 3V are no longer a rarity. This is where developers with conventional oscilloscope probes reach their limits. In particular, a probe the measured values significantly falsified by its internal resistance, which is usually between 2 and 10 MΩ.
Unfortunately, “high-impedance” probes are hard to find in the market. That´s the reason for a difficult order and a high price.
Therefore, PicoSearch has developed an extremely high-impedance active probe for general laboratory work. With a load current consumption of less than 0.3pA (0 – 5V) it does not load the circuit during the measuring process.
These probes have become an indispensable part of developing power-saving circuits. That´s the reason we have built the High-Impedance probe in small line to support and make it available to our partner and customer.
Connection of the probe
The high-impedance probe is connected through the USB port to a standard 5V power source, ideally directly to the oscilloscope’s connector. Connect the probe to the USB port of the oscilloscope for direct power supply.

Signal measurement with extremely high-impedance connection.
The measurement with the probe can be performed as usual with the probe. Alternatively, you can attach the included clamping hook to the probe to take measurements. The USB connection is used exclusively for the power supply of the probe. No data will be transferred via USB.
